Sorry for the absence :)

Sooooo...I have had a very interesting 6 months.  My brother died of a drug overdose. I have stage managed "Music Man" at Cross Creek Players, "A Christmas Carol" at Bridge Players Theater, did front of house stuff for "Gypsy" at Bridge Players and am working on "Exit Date" with Bridge Players.  I have been through the first holiday season without my brother and have gotten a new job.   My 17 year old got his license and the very next day totaled my husband's car.  I became Reiki level 1 certified and will be getting my second level certification tomorrow.

Needless to say I have been a little busy! 

First thing's first though. 

My brother...he had been an addict for about 7 years I think it could have been more.  He had 3 children 2 boys and a girl.  We knew that something was going to happen because of the types of drugs he was using (Heroin and Cocaine).  That doesn't make things any easier.  My mom called me on November 19th and told me that the cops had just left, Tom was in bed so we got ready and went to their house.  We stayed for about and hour and a half and went home.  The next day, I made all of the phone calls for my family and went to tell my grandmother with my father.  Jenny held a memorial service for him and we were thankful for that!  Lots of family and old friends that we haven't seen in a long time came to show their support and we were grateful.  Though it has been 4 months tomorrow it still isn't any easier thinking about what he has done to his children and the rest of us.  I'm still angry, at whom I'm not sure.  I can't listen to certain songs on the radio and hate to be in my car alone for any length of time because I start thinking about what was.  It hurts...he was such a good person before he became addicted, such a good father, son and brother. 

This brings me to my next quandary.

My parents had my brother cremated after speaking to his ex-wife and finding out that was his wish.  My mom and I had discussed taking some of his ashes to the shore on his birthday, it will be almost 6 months and a full moon.  Seems appropriate since we had a lot of good memories there.  That being said, I bought Cremation jewelry ( a Celtic Cross Necklace, because he wore one), took some of his ashes and put them in there.  I put the necklace on but felt there was some negative energy emanating from it (I know some of you think this is weird but if you know me then you know).  I did a cleansing thing and burned some candles asking for this to dissipate.  Not too long after this, Brandyn got his license and crashed the car approximately 25 hours later (6 miles from home and first time out alone).  We also have experienced several other issues since I put the necklace on.  So I have taken it off, again. Not sure what to do now but not putting it back on until it has been thoroughly cleansed!

Through all of this I have found that I really enjoy community theater!  I enjoy being part of a show.  I love feeling that I am part of something that many people will enjoy.  I love most of the people that I have met.  I really like seeing it all come together.  In the past year I have stage managed 3 shows, and am working on my 4th.  I worked front of house on one and even had the dog in a show.  I have stuff lined up for next season and even into next year!  If I could find a real job doing this I would take it in a minute!!!!

Tomorrow I will be getting my second level Reiki certification.  Tomorrow is the 19th (4 months ago for my brother). Tomorrow is a full moon and Sunday is Ostara.  This week I spoke to someone about a part time job.  It all seems to be coming together. Finally.

This is my first official design.  I had searched on Ravelry and found nothing like this as I am doing a craft fair in October and did not want to steal anyone else's designs.  I had 2 testers knit this up for me 1 of them was a beginner and neither had a problem with the pattern.

Yarn: Lily Sugar n’ Cream Solid

Needles: Size 6 US or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge: 5 stitches = 1 inch

Abbreviations: yf: Yarn Forward

                      Sl1k: Slip 1 stitch knit-wise

                      K: knit

                      P: purl

                     PM: Place Marker



Please keep in mind that this is a dishcloth so gauge is not horribly important. I try to use size 6 as much as possible because I LOVE my Signature Circulars!



Cast on 38 stitches using your preferred cast on method. Markers will be placed just to let you know where the edge stitches align. Slip the markers in each row. Please note that the stitch markers are not required to complete the pattern they serve as a guide for the working area of the pattern.

Name Origins...

Name Origins are usually something fun and interesting to research because there is just so much out there on the web right now you can find just about anything.  (If anyone can find Lion Brand Trellis Pastel Garden I will marry you).  I have not had such luck with the name that my oldest nephew has given me.

I think it means something in Russian as well because there is a Russian site for mubb shoes.  I think I need to buy a pair just to have them. 

However, this was a name given to me about 14 years ago by this young man:

He was laying on the bathroom floor getting ready to get in the tub, his mom looked at him and said "Johnny, can you say Aunt Kris?"  He looked up and said "Mubb."  The same thing occurred about 6 months later verbatim.  So I became Mubby...I like it because I know there aren't many of us out there (I tried to find more).  Though, I do not like that my sister's boys now call me Miss Mubby.  They need to drop the Miss thing, it's way too formal.  I use this name for all of my log-ins on all of the sites to which I belong, usually it is not an issue getting this name, but sometimes I add the year that he was born...96 if the user id needs to be longer.

My family is a little odd, we like to stop at signs that have our names (first, middle or last) and have our picture taken (I don't have any on this computer at the moment, shocking I know, or that would have been included too).  This is not something that I will ever have to worry about with the term mubby because, alas, it is not a real word.  It does make me feel good that even as a teenager, he still calls me this every time he sees me and now I have 4 other little ones that call me this as well!

So this is my first post and I wanted to see what it looks like. :)  I will be updating this on Ravelry and on Facebook today.
